Cleo Barbour mastered shoe making at Cordwainers London College of Fashion and trained in the studios of Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood and L.K. Bennett. She went on to fulfil her dream and launched the successful shoe brand CLEO B in 2009. The collection was stocked in Dover Street Market, Start London, Anthropologie, Fenwick Bond Street and a selection of iconic International fashion independents. She introduced the shoe accessory trend in 2012, which included her fun-loving Pom Pom Shoe Clips and glitzy sneaker embellishing Lace Locks. The Pom Pom shoe became an iconic CLEO B design.
Her passion for bold, tropical colours has played a large part in her designs which have been influenced by the Art Deco era, Arabia, 80s Hip Hop, Fairytales and the incredible Tahitian Birds of Paradise. The collections caught the attention of the media, which lead to features in top level publications including Vogue, In Style, ST Style, Tatler and Grazia. CLEO B was recognised by industry leaders, including Drapers, as a modern and innovative footwear brand with a fresh and fun aesthetic.
The shoes, beautifully crafted in an artisanal Spanish factory, are loved by influencers and musicians including Paloma Faith, Melissa Hemsley, Gemma Cairney, Dawn O’Porter, Zara Martin, Jessie J and Brix Smith-Start.
Cleo has also applied her aesthetic and style to home interiors, her colourful projects featuring in Marie Claire, the Evening Standard, Living Etc and The Observer.
Establishing my own loveable and colourful footwear brand has been an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Continuing on from the success of CLEO B, I will be designing freelance, enabling me to work with a varied range of clients in the fashion industry. I will also be applying my signature aesthetic to exciting new collaborative projects in the lifestyle sector. I always love to discuss an opportunity, so please feel free to contact me.
The future is colourful!
